A 5-step guide to
the ultimate run
Get the most out of your 5k with these top tips
Signing up for a 5k is the first step, now see how you can ace it.
The first step on your journey to personal greatness was signing up to do a 5k - if you’ve done that, well done, you’re already halfway there. Now, just incorporate these five top tips from our EXOS experts, and the sky’s the limit.

1. Add some strength and flexibility training to your weekly routine. Just a couple of sessions each week will do all manner of good for your running.

2. In between runs, rest up and do some lighter exercises, like a gentle bike ride or a nice swim. It’s a great way to stay fresh and injury-free.

3. Always focus on your technique. To get the most out of your session, you should run tall, with your chest up, your shoulders back, and your feet level with your hips, rather than out in front of you.

4. Make sure you drink plenty of water. It’s super-important to stay hydrated, so drink before, during and after a training session or a race.

5. Work through a handful (4-6) of your favourite warm-up movements to get your mind and body prepared for a big race, or even just a training session. It’s a good habit to get into.
