In 2009 long-time adidas partner BASF - the world’s largest chemical company - discovered a new way of using a granular material called thermoplastic urethane (TPU).
Using pressure and heat, the material was blown up like popcorn and turned into thousands of small shock-absorbing energy capsules.
More than 2000 of the capsules are fused and shaped into each midsole and are structured to store and unleash energy more efficiently than any other foam, helping runners take their performance to the next level.
